The structure of the tire is constituted essentially by: 

  • two flexible and elastic sidewalls; 
  • the belt (crown) semirigid formed by layers superimposed of metallic ropes;
  • two inclusive edges between the side and the belt (crown); 
    The retreaders have the difficult assignment to appraise if the tire, after its cycle of life, has to be " rejected ", "retreaded" and/or "repaired". 
    They have to verify the conformity for proceeding to the tire "retreading or repairing " that guarantees the performance of a new one. 

    In many cases, at the base of a possible and optimal retreading/regeneration of a tire there is a repair. 

    The material used for the repairing has the necessary qualities to return the tire to its fitness to use and safety too. The most important feature of TAP RAP units is the layout of the plies. The TAP RAP series of repair units differ from conventional repair in that they incorporate modified bias angle between plies to  provide greater flexibility and elasticity.
Furthermore, the larger TAP RAP repair units are reinforced with steel cord  material to furnish the necessary strength in a smaller and lighter unit, thus enhancing casing flexibility and reducing heat build-up in the repaired area.
